Divya Rao Heffley portrait

Divya Rao Heffley

Divya Rao Heffley is the senior program manager of Carnegie Museum of Art's Hillman Photography Initiative, an incubator for innovative thinking about the photographic image. A Pittsburgh native, she developed a love affair with cities early on that led her to pursue a PhD at Brown University on the intersections between urban planning, architecture, and spatial perception. A particular fondness for her hometown and a commitment to the critical role of the arts in the urban experience brought her back to Carnegie Museum of Art, where she’s been working to make the experimental process and content of the Initiative a reality. Her writing has appeared in Design and Culture and the Center for the Future of Museums blog and is forthcoming in Museums and Visitor Photography and Museum Ideas: Innovation in Theory and Practice, v.2.
